Isabel Denney-Foster's A2 Media Coursework

These are templates I could use as inspiration- I have decided i do not want to include the title of my album or my artist's name like these albums (besides Eminem). I can use a layout and input material as inspiration for my legal writing to include in my product. I still (as I have in my draft) want to include the timings in my track listing just as Space Trax has for their track listings. I do like the use of the dividing live for the Arctic Monkeys album- I may give this a go. 

Whilst searching through Jeff Jank's CD cover site I came across some interesting photography which had been collage together to an imperfect image. I believe I would like to try this method of taking images of a wide area and collage them together to create some form of image. 

The first three album covers are from Witt Lowry who, like Lucidious and our attempt to achieve with our artist Distinct, is rather unknown and not amazingly popular within the hip hop genre like Eminem (the last album cover belongs to).  Lowry's albums are landscape shots which are beautiful and incredibly simplistic. Eminem's album cover is a picture of him in an everyday setting, thus conveying this idea of simplicity once more. i have decided I may experiment with this idea however I know I would like to have my artist featured on the cover like Eminem's / unlike Lowry's. 

These album covers are not in the genre of rap which is the genre our song Moment of Silence falls under however these are covers which have giving me inspiration as they are simple yet effective. I like the idea of putting a boundary with my font between the photo and the text (as seen is Marissa Nadler Strangers and Blond by Frank Ocean.) I believe I will incorporate this with an effective font (as seen in Banks The Altar   and Genesis). The colour (as seen in WarPaint) is something I may include if i choose to print by CD cover in Black and White which is the advice we were given from our peers as we have used our artist photo as the black and white image.  

Vladamir Propp was a Russian critic who analysed hundreds of fairy tales in the 1920s. He came up with the concept of defining characters to clearly defined purposes, rolls and functions for the story. We could use this theorist towards our video when evaluating our characters and the rolls they play. For example in our narrative structure we are hoping to reveal the reality of unhappy family life, the affects of bullying and the after affects of loss. Here we have come to the conclusion to use one character to express the emotions and realities behind these situations. Therefore we have defined the roll of our character as someone who will exploit the realities of emotional ordeals. From the feedback we have received we are able to see that the most popular ideas are using the protection and lighting and the use of using black and white as a colour pallet this is something we will take into consideration when filming. The black and white concept may be something we will include however we are going to film as though we would not be using the filter therefore, during the filming stage of production we will exclude it and work on the black an white idea during our editing process during post production. Something that received mixed reviews is the locations we've decided on using to film (inside the white room and outside using natural lighting) although said "if accessible it can be pulled off well" this has left us with an conception of uncertainty and we have decided to take care when filming however keeping back up plans during our story boarding process in case things don't work or do not look how we are hoping them to.  Other feedback (o...

Gorilla vs Bear Whilst visiting this site I came across a review for an album (Alice Boman "Dreams")  The article was presented as the album's cover which really appealed to me aesthetically. I have decided to save this and use it as an inspiration for my album cover at least as an experimental factor however I am not sure if it will fit in with my genre. 

Consequence of Sound- I viewed this site and explored all the categories such as film, TV and Music and viewed some of the latest articles on the Music category. I discovered a new article concerning the group METZ which involved the release of their new single and this image.  This image really sparked my curiosity with the visual aspect as it looks like the relay and layering of a multiple amount of images. which were taken at the same time, place and with the same people only having the subjects move, not enough so that the image is unreadable but enough to convey a sense of artistic convention. I have decided I would like to experiment with this effect and if it works well I wish to apply it to my album/ CD cover.

Lucidious is a fairly unknown artist of the  Hip-hop and rap genre with his three most popular  Albums being  Torn Between Pages, Vol. I: Make It Out Alive (13th September 2013) including songs such as Save Me, No Longer Silent and Do The Talking. His previous album Reflections (20th December 2015) included the songs 808 ft. Mellow, Let It Rain ft. GJR and Your Life. He has not been in the industry for a long time and he is fairly new and fresh is his genre of music.  His online website is used to promote his newest albums, songs and merchandise. He hasn't gotten the reception, he would expect, from other artists of the genre have so isn't as popular or well known.Because of his niche audience and relatively unknown we believe his music is mostly listened to through platforms such as his spotify account and his  LucidiousMusic  YouTube profile.

Distinct (born 10th December 1994 as Daniel William Ink) is an American Rapper and songwriter. Daniel was signed into Interscope Records in 2010 and took the stage name Distinct in 2013. Distinct’s first single, ‘Success’ as a part of his first album ‘The Essential Introduction’, was released 13 th April 2015 and sold 850,000 copies in America. This single reached Number 3 in the US Billboard Hot 100. The Essential Introduction also featured Eminem and Logic in the track ‘Best Friend’. Distinct’s latest release, ‘Moment of Silence’ from his new album ‘Judicial Independence’, was released 6 th September 2018 and reached Number 1 within 2 days of release.

During Class we had tochoose the group of people we were choosing to work with and the result was a large group consisting of 6 people (George Silk, Charlee Fear, Frank Parnell, Ben Field, James Meadows and myslef). We then chose the video of FourFiveSeconds as it looked acomplishable and simple for a big group to recreate and Charlee Fear took the role of director and allocated us roles and tasks to complete. We also decided that instead of performing and recreating just a minuet of the video we would do the whole thing as we had the capacity and enough people to do so.
